"Retreat to Recharge"

Set amidst its own organic vineyards, almond and olive groves, 3000 ft above sea level on the south facing slope of the Contraviesa mountains, lies the Cortijo de la Jarilla, with spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada, the Mediterranean and occasionally Africa. During the summer the heat at La Jarilla is never oppressive due to the altitude (900 mtrs), lack of humidity and onshore breezes. From October to April warm clothing is needed after sundown. Rainfall is short, fierce and infrequent and very occasionally it will snow. All the houses have their own open fireplaces & there is central heating throughout, when required.

The property is secluded, totally unaffected by neighbours and four kilometres from the main road at Haza del Lino down a serviceable track, suitable for all types of vehicles with a six inch clearance. For those who cannot bring their Ferrari, Maserati etc. there is a helipad, very useful for rich visitors and medical evacuation!

The houses - Originally two houses with assorted stables and barns tacked on over the last 200 years now consists of my house and three cottages nearby. The reconstruction has taken three years and all doors, windows and rejas were reclaimed from all corners of Andalucia and vary in age from 50 to 250 years. The style is rustic 19th century with harled walls, traditional red roof tiles, chestnut beams, timber or cane ceilings and terracotta floors. Two of the self-catering cottages are attached and interconnecting, when required.

La Jarilla is ideal for block bookings for several families with children, small conferences, yoga retreats, painting and cooking courses . Additional maid service available and full board when required . Local performing artists can be engaged for birthday celebrations etc…
